Founded in 2010, the Expedition studies 4th–16th c. sites in the town of Sudakand its environs, including the fortress and port. The works are performed in conjunction with the Sudak Fortress Historical and Cultural Reserve and the Crimean Archaeology Institute of the Academy of Sci-ences. The research focuses on the links and interaction between western and eastern civilizations from late antiquity and Early Middle Ages to the late 15th–early 16th c.
